Have You Ruined Your Metabolism Through Years Of Dieting?
Ok, so you have been on every diet you can think of. Maybe you have even bought into an MLM and drank the kool-aid for a little while to get the discounts. I am not judging because I too, had been on tons of different diets prescribed by google. I have also hired many coaches who had put me on a restrictive meal plan or had me weigh and measure every nibble of food so that I could punch it into an app.
And admittedly, as a sports nutritionist, I did the same with my clients. Thankfully, when you know better, you do better.
The problem with dieting is that only two-five percent of people who lose weight manage to keep it off. The success rate is extremely low, but we keep buying into the next thing with the hope that this time you will find the answer to success.
Have you ever noticed that with each attempt at weight loss, it gets more and more difficult? The diet industry will tell you that you aren't trying hard enough. They encourage you to be more disciplined and consistent. This is the only industry that has gotten away with selling a product that has proven that it doesn't work, but blames the you, the customer!

Gaining the weight back after each attempt is a self-defeating cycle that can lead you to feeling utterly worthless.
My hope with this article is for you to see a side of dieting that this industry doesn't show it's consumers, because no one would buy if they shared the facts.
Dieting is a fight against of body, so it comes as no surprise that chronic dieting affects us on a biological level. When you begin a diet, your body senses the restriction and assumes that you are in famine. Your body has no idea that you are doing this intentionally.
As soon as your body senses the danger she does her job in saving your life by slowing down your metabolism to make sure that you don't burn off fat easily. The levels of your ghrelin hormone rise, this is the hormone responsible for making your feel hungry. Without ghrelin, there is no growl in your stomach.
While this is going on, the levels of your leptin hormone start to drop. This makes it so that you don't feel satiated or full. Essentially, when leptin levels drop, you feel like a bottomless pit!
These levels can be affected even by the THOUGHT of going on a diet. This is your body's way of bracing for what is to come.
So babe, if you are reading this, I hope you feel relief in knowing that the fact that you haven't succeeded at keeping your weight off after a diet is not your fault! You are not a failure. The diet industry has failed you.
